Section 1

Why Andhra Pradesh is Different

Three things make AP counselling distinct from other states.

4 BC Sub-Types (like Telangana)
AP and Telangana share the same backward class system from before the 2014 split. Instead of a single OBC, there are 5 separate BC quotas: BC-A (7%), BC-B (10%), BC-C (1%), BC-D (7%), BC-E (4%) = 29% total. SC split into 3 sub-groups: Group-1 (1%), Group-2 (6.5%), Group-3 (7.5%) = 15% total. ST at 6%. EWS at 10%.
Phases, Not Rounds
AP runs counselling in Phases. Phase 1 is the initial allotment. Phase 2 fills vacancies from MCC AIQ exits. Phase 3 is the final comprehensive round. Data shown here is from Phase 3 (final closing ranks) and MQ Phase 1.
CQ + MQ at Private Colleges
Private colleges split into Cat-A (50% CQ) at ₹16,500/yr, Cat-B (35% MQ) at ₹13.20L/yr, Cat-C (15% NRI) at ₹39.60L/yr. B1 (15% of B) is open to all India; B2 (85% of B) is AP local only. 33.33% women horizontal reservation applies.
Dr. NTR University of Health Sciences, Vijayawada conducts AP counselling
All government and private Convener Quota seats are allotted through Dr. NTRUHS via drntr.uhsap.in. CQ application: ₹2,950 (OC/BC) / ₹2,360 (SC/ST). MQ application: ₹10,620. Late fee: ₹20,000+. University joining fee: ₹10,600 (non-refundable). One-time web options exercised once for all phases. Two local areas: Andhra University (AU) region and Sri Venkateswara University (SVU) region, 85% local / 15% unreserved split.
Section 2

Category Codes Decoded

Every category code used in AP counselling, explained.

OC
Open Category
General unreserved. No caste-based reservation. Filled on pure NEET merit among AP domicile candidates. Tightest closing ranks.
BCA
Backward Class A (7%)
Communities like Agnikula Kshatriya, Besta, Mudiraj, Vaddera. 7% reservation — BCA students only compete against other BCA candidates.
BCB
Backward Class B (10%)
Communities like Padmashali, Kammara, Kummari. Largest BC sub-type at 10%. BCB competes separately from BCA, BCD etc.
BCC
Backward Class C (1%)
Smallest BC sub-type at just 1%. Separate competition pool. Certificate from Tahsildar / MRO, Govt. of AP.
BCD
Backward Class D (7%)
Backward Class Muslims — Dudekula, Laddaf, Shaik. Has its own 7% reservation separate from other Muslim or BC categories.
BCE
Backward Class E (4%)
Nomadic and semi-nomadic tribes. 4% reservation. Distinct from ST — these are backward class nomadic, not scheduled tribes.
SC
Scheduled Caste
Scheduled Castes as per AP Government list. Includes Madiga, Mala and other listed communities.
ST
Scheduled Tribe
Scheduled Tribes including Koya, Chenchu, Savara, Gadaba. Reservation percentage fixed by state government.
4 BC sub-types = 4 separate competitions
This is not just labeling — it changes your odds. A BCD student with AIR 40,000 competes in a completely different pool than a BCA student at the same rank. Understanding which BC sub-type you fall under directly determines which seat pool you're in and what colleges you can realistically target.
Section 3

Seat Structure

How 38 colleges and their seats are distributed across counselling authorities.

CQ
Convener Quota (Govt)
All 18 government college seats filled by KNIME AP. Categories: OC, BCA, BCB, BCD, BCE, SC, ST. 100% of govt seats are Convener Quota.
Eligibility: AP domicile + valid NEET UG score. Category reservation applies.
CQ
Convener Quota (Private)
Cat-A: ~50% of private college seats. Filled by KNIME AP at regulated fees. Same category system as govt.
Eligibility: AP domicile. Fee: regulated by state — significantly lower than MQ.
MQ
Management Quota
Cat-B: ~35% of private college seats. Split into B1 (all-India) + B2 (local). Higher fees. College-level selection through KNIME.
Eligibility: B1 = open to all India. B2 = AP local. Fee: college-specific, significantly higher.
NRI
NRI Quota
Cat-C: ~15% of private college seats. For NRI/NRI ward/OCI/PIO candidates. Highest fee tier.
Eligibility: NRI sponsor required. Fee: highest tier.

Outside KNIME AP Counselling

1 Deemed University — MCC
GITAM Institute of Medical Sciences, Visakhapatnam: ₹25L/yr via MCC deemed counselling.
These are NOT under KNIME AP. Separate MCC process, open to all India.
AIIMS Mangalagiri — AIIMS Counselling
125 seats filled through AIIMS counselling (not KNIME AP, not MCC general). Completely separate process. Fee: minimal (central institution). Requires NEET UG qualification.
Section 4

Fee Structure

The same private college can charge vastly different fees for CQ vs MQ seats. Seat type determines fee.

Seat Type Fee Per Year Who Pays This Notes
Private CQ MBBS (Cat-A) ₹16,500/yr AP domicile, merit via Dr. NTRUHS Per G.O.Ms.No.111/503. Same for minority and non-minority private colleges
Private MQ MBBS (Cat-B) ₹13,20,000/yr B1: all India (15% of B). B2: AP local (85% of B) Per G.O.Ms.No.111/503. 80x the CQ fee at same college
Private NRI MBBS (Cat-C) ₹39,60,000/yr NRI / NRI ward / OCI / PIO 15% of intake. 3x management fee. Per G.O.Ms.No.111/503
Private CQ BDS (Cat-A) ₹14,300/yr AP domicile BDS CQ regulated fee
Private MQ BDS (Cat-B) ₹4,40,000/yr B1/B2 BDS management fee
Private NRI BDS (Cat-C) ₹13,20,000/yr NRI quota BDS BDS NRI fee
Deemed (MCC) ₹15–25L All India (via MCC counselling) Not through NTRUHS
The CQ Advantage
An AP domicile student getting CQ at a private college pays ₹16,500/yr. The same seat via MQ costs ₹13.20L/yr. Over 4.5 years: ₹74,250 total CQ vs ₹59.4L total MQ. That is a ₹58.7L difference for the same degree at the same college — one of the widest CQ-MQ gaps in India.
4.5 Years Total
MBBS = 4.5 years + 1 year internship. Total fee = yearly fee x 4.5. Govt CQ at ₹14K/yr = ₹63,000 total. Private MQ at ₹10L/yr = ₹45L total. The gap is ₹44L+ for the same MBBS degree.

All fees from G.O.Ms.No.111, HM&FW (C1) Dept., Dt.24.07.2023 and G.O.Ms.No.503, HM&FW (C1) Dept., Dt.06.08.2024 as cited in Dr. NTRUHS CQ & MQ Prospectus 2025-26. Government college fees vary by institution.

Section 5

Non-Domicile Access

Not from Andhra Pradesh? Here are your actual options for MBBS in the state.

Government CQ = AP domicile only
All 18 government colleges are 100% domicile-restricted for Convener Quota. Non-domicile candidates cannot get government MBBS seats through KNIME AP. Your category reservation from another state does not work in AP state counselling.
Management Quota B1 (All-India)
A portion of MQ (Cat-B) at private colleges is open to all India candidates. This is the primary route for non-domicile students into AP private colleges. Higher fees apply.
NRI Quota (Cat-C)
15% of private college seats are NRI quota, open to NRI/NRI ward/OCI/PIO from any state. Highest fee tier. Requires NRI sponsor documentation.
MCC AIQ (15% All India Quota)
15% of government college seats go to MCC All India Quota. Open to all India, with standard OBC/SC/ST reservation. Separate MCC process, not KNIME AP.
Deemed + AIIMS
1 deemed university via MCC and AIIMS Mangalagiri via AIIMS counselling are open to all India. No domicile required.

Non-domicile access in AP is limited. The main non-domicile pathway is MQ B1 at private colleges — small number of seats at high fees.

CQ = Convener Quota (regulated fee). MQ = Management Quota (college-determined fee). Same college, vastly different fees. CQ requires AP domicile. MQ B1 is open to all India.

Section 8

Deposits & Bond

Financial commitments and service obligations for AP MBBS graduates.

₹10,600
University Fee at Joining
Non-refundable fee paid through payment gateway when downloading allotment order. Required for both CQ and MQ.
Free Exit
Phase 1 & 2
Reported candidates can request free exit after Phase-I or Phase-II before specified date. Must submit request to Principal. After free exit, not eligible for further rounds. Can also choose to retain via self-declaration.
Discontinuation Fee
After Closure of Admissions
Per G.O.Ms.No.72 (dt.15-07-2019): candidates withdrawing after closure of admissions or mid-course must pay discontinuation fee via DD to Registrar, Dr. NTRUHS. Amount depends on year of course + GST. Cannot resign during Phase-III to closure.
Not Joined
= No Further Rounds
If allotted in any phase and not joined, candidate is not eligible for further rounds of counselling. This is stricter than many other states where non-joining allows continued participation.
Special Categories (Horizontal)
CAP (Army): 1% | NCC: 1% | Sports: 0.5% | PwBD: 5% | Police Martyrs: 0.25% | Bharat Scouts: 0.5%. These are compartmentalized horizontal reservations within OC/BC/SC/ST. Certificates verified by respective state authorities.
Documents Required
NEET rank card, SSC marks memo, Intermediate marks, Study certificates (6th-12th), Transfer certificate, Integrated Community Certificate with Barcode (from MRO, AP), EWS certificate (valid 2025-26, issued after 01.04.2025 by Tahsildar), Local status certificate (online by MRO), Aadhar card. All uploaded as scanned PDFs.
Caste Certificate Rule
Only AP-issued Integrated Community Certificates with Barcode accepted (per Memo No.2832690/C1/2025). After 10-year common admission period with Telangana expired (01.06.2024), TS certificates no longer valid for AP admissions. Muslim minority certificate from AP Minorities Welfare Dept.

Counselling rules from Dr. NTRUHS CQ Prospectus 2025-26 and MQ Prospectus 2025-26. Discontinuation fee per G.O.Ms.No.72, HM&FW (C1) Dept., dt.15-07-2019.

Every Rank is a Story

What actually happened in AP UG 2025

Real patterns from the allotment data. Not projections — what students actually did.

THE CQ vs MQ GAP — SAME COLLEGE, DIFFERENT UNIVERSE
CQ seats at private colleges have regulated fees vs 10L+/yr for MQ. Same college, same degree.
BC SUB-TYPE MATTERS — SAME RANK, DIFFERENT OUTCOME
4 BC sub-types. 3 Phases. CQ vs MQ fee gaps.
AP counselling has as many variables as Telangana. The students who made the right call — which category they compete in, which phase to wait for, CQ vs MQ trade-off — had data, not just instinct. That's what Formity builds for you.
