Why Chandigarh is Different

Single College UT
GMC and Hospital, Chandigarh (Sector 32) is the only MBBS college. 150 seats total: 115 UT Pool + 23 AIQ + 9 Foreign Indian Student + 3 Central Pool. Not to be confused with PGIMER (PG only for MBBS).
Very Affordable
Fee: ₹24,979/yr (General), ₹19,879/yr (SC). Total 4.5-year cost: ~₹1.12L. Among India's cheapest MBBS. No private MBBS option exists in Chandigarh.
UT Status
Chandigarh is a Union Territory. UT Pool (115 seats) requires Chandigarh domicile via 5 specific criteria. MCC AIQ (23 seats, 15%) is the route for non-domicile students.

Domicile Eligibility (UT Pool)

You qualify for UT Chandigarh Pool if you meet ANY ONE of these criteria. Source: GMCH Prospectus 2025.

Criteria 1: Schooling in Chandigarh
Completed 10th, 10+1, and 10+2 from schools recognized by Chandigarh Administration, situated in UT Chandigarh, as a regular student.
Criteria 2: Parent Residence (5 yrs)
Parents resident of Chandigarh for past 5 years immediately preceding the date of application. Residence certificate from Deputy Commissioner, UT Chandigarh required.
Criteria 3: Govt Employee (3 yrs)
Parents are Central/State Govt employees on deputation to UT Administration (including autonomous bodies where UT has 20%+ share) for past 3 years.
Criteria 4: Defence / Ex-Servicemen
Wards of serving Defence Personnel or Ex-Servicemen with permanent address of UT Chandigarh in their service record at the time of entry into defence services.
Criteria 5: OCI Card Holders
OCI card secured before 04.03.2021 + must fulfill one of Criteria 1-3 above. Per Supreme Court order dated 03.02.2023.
Exclusive domicile rule
You must submit an affidavit declaring you have NOT opted/claimed residence in any other State/UT after NEET results. If you applied for state quota in any other state, your Chandigarh candidature is rejected. Even withdrawing from another state counts as "opted and claimed".

NEET UG 2025 Result Card, 10th certificate (DOB proof), 10+1 passing certificate, 10+2 detailed mark sheet, photo ID (Aadhaar/Passport/DL/Voter ID), 2 passport-size photos.
UT Pool Specific
Domicile proof (Appendix A1-A4 depending on criteria), Affidavit that you have not claimed residence in any other state/UT (Appendix A5), SC certificate from Tehsildar/DC of UT Chandigarh (if SC).
Foreign Indian Student
Passport/OCI card, ancestral background certificate (DC Chandigarh for Cat-I, DC of other state for Cat-II), eligibility + equivalence certificates from Panjab University AND AIU (for foreign board students).

Non-Domicile Access

UT Pool = Chandigarh domicile only (115 seats)
Non-domicile options: MCC AIQ (23 seats), Foreign Indian Student quota (9 seats, if eligible). Unfilled Foreign Indian / Central Pool seats get added to UT General pool. No private college MBBS exists in Chandigarh.

Refund & Exit Rules

Seat Surrender (General/SC)
Fees refunded after deduction of ₹1,000 only if the vacated seat gets filled. If seat not filled, entire course fee forfeited (only security refunded).
Seat Surrender (Foreign Indian)
US $1,000 deducted if seat filled. If seat not filled, entire fee forfeited. ₹50,000 college security refunded after written request.

Original certificates retained by college. Returned only on written seat surrender per DGHS instructions.
